Costa Rica Preview – Can Costa Rica squeeze through?
Costa Rica finished the World Cup CONCACAF section in 4th place after making a dismal start to their qualifying campaign as they had managed to muster just one win in their opening seven group games, that being a 2-1 home win over El Salvador.
However, Costa Rica did manage to turn things around by putting together an unbeaten seven-match finish which included six wins to achieve a last-gasp 4th place finish and claim the play-off spot.

New Zealand finished top of their Oceania Group B with a 100% winning record as they saw off the likes of Papua New Guinea, Fiji and New Caledonia to progress through to the final qualifying stages where they recorded a 1-0 win against Tahiti in the semi-finals before claiming the intercontinental play-off spot after thrashing Solomon Islands 5-0 in the final.
The Kiwis have lost just two of their last 11 matches in all competitions and have picked up eight wins in the process, and with Premier League striker, Chris Wood, in their ranks up front, New Zealand stand a decent chance of gaining a favourable result here.
They have also lost just two of their last seven away games and this could set them up for success here.
