Czech Republic Preview – Can Czechs inflict first defeat on England and go joint top of their group?

It’s been a challenging campaign for the Czech Republic so far, in a group they are second seeds in. A 5-0 thrashing away to England was hardly the start they would have looked for. Although it was always likely to be their hardest fixture, the manner of the defeat was hard to take. Fortunately, they had back to back home games in an attempt to recover from that loss which they duly won. A 2-1 success versus Bulgaria and 3-0 victory against Montenegro got them back into the group and had them in decent enough shape before going to face the surprise package of this group, Kosovo. A 2-1 loss had them right up against it in their quest to qualify and left them with little margin for error. Again, the Czechs bounced back from a loss in this section to get back to winning ways next time out. A comprehensive 3-0 win away to Montenegro, coupled with England beating Kosovo, has them in second place again.

With three games left to play in this section it is going to go down to the wire. The Czech Republic are a point ahead of Kosovo and have that opponent to face in the first of a double header next month. They finish their campaign a few days later with a tricky looking encounter away to Bulgaria.

England to score in both halves

England Preview – Will England’s dominance of Group A continue and go a step closer towards confirming their qualification?

Four games played and four wins for England. It’s how most would have predicted it for Gareth Southgate’s men and they appear to be well on course to topping the group and reaching next summer’s finals. For the most part it’s been a thoroughly dominant performance with 19 goals scored. The group leaders have scored five goals on three occasions, including in the reverse of this fixture. Kosovo and Montenegro have also hit by the same amount whilst Bulgaria were spared somewhat, losing only the four. It was last time out against Kosovo where they got their biggest shock and hardest game. In what was one of the games of the group stage, England eventually ran out 5-3 winners. It’s a contest that yet again exposed how vulnerable they can be in defence, though.

Southgate has had the advantage of rotating his team in this group stage as he builds towards the finals. It would take an extremely unlikely collapse to see them not qualify. Despite having played a game less the English are top by a point. They face Bulgaria away on Monday before their final two games next month – at home to Montenegro and away to Kosovo.

Czech Republic v England Betting Advice

It was not even close to being a contest when these teams last met and the Czechs will be looking to make this a much more competitive affair. Considering they are coming up against an England team who have hut at least four in all their qualifiers, that is easier said than done. The hosts will have to be well organised and make like as difficult as possible for their opponents. Should they give up an early goal then you struggle to see a way back for them.
The constant in all of England’s game in this group is goals. They have threats from all over the park and have a very dynamic attack. All five of the Czech Republic’s qualifiers have had at least three goals in them as well. It makes over 2.5 goals look a very appealing selection in this one.
