England Prediction – Can England finish the job?

Barring an absolute disaster, England look assured of their place in next year’s European Championships as they sit top of Group A with a 3-point cushion over 2nd placed Czech Republic and a 4-point buffer over 3rd placed Kosovo ahead of Thursday night’s encounter with Montenegro at Wembley.

Having won 5 of their 6 matches to date in these group stages (and by significant margins), it looks highly unlikely that England will miss out, while a 100% record at home should ensure a fourth home win on the trot here to seal their qualification.

England started quickly out of the blocks with a 4-match winning streak which included wins against Czech Republic, Montenegro (5-1 away), Bulgaria and Kosovo, and although they were handed a surprise 2-1 defeat at Czech Republic, Gareth Southgate’s side quickly bounced back with a resounding 6-0 win away from home in Bulgaria.

The hosts also hold a commanding record at home in Euro qualifiers as England are unbeaten in their last 12 matches, including winning their last 9 matches on the trot as well as keeping an amazing 9 clean sheets in the process too.

Montenegro Prediction – Can Montenegro achieve the impossible?

It’s been a disappointing campaign so far for visitors, Montenegro, as they occupy 4th place in this 5-nation Group A and still remain without a win after 7 matches, so it looks almost impossible that they’ll grab all three points at Wembley on Thursday night.

Montenegro have collected 3 draws but have also lost 4 so far in this Euro 2020 campaign, having picked up points in draws with Bulgaria 1-1 (away), Kosovo (1-1 at home) and a 0-0 draw at home with Bulgaria, but the defeats have far outweighed the slim pickings that they’ve achieved to date.

Heavy losses to England 5-1 at home, Czech Republic 3-0 (home and away) and a 2-0 loss at Kosovo have ensured another mediocre international campaign for the visitors who have now had to endure a run of 9 matches without a win in Euro qualifiers overall.

The visitors have also picked up just 1 win out of their last 12 away matches in Euro qualifiers and that was a 2-0 victory away at minnows, Moldova, back in September 2015, and although they’ve held England to draws in the past, a well-motivated England side look far superior these days.

Key-Facts – England vs Montenegro

  • England are unbeaten in their last 12 matches at home in Euro qualifiers
  • Montenegro have won just 1 of their last 12 away matches in Euro qualifiers
  • England have won the last 2 meetings against Montenegro, 5-1 and 4-1 respectively

Betting Tips Verdict

England know that they just need to win once more to qualify and they should easily account for a demoralised Montenegro outfit at Wembley.
