Fleetwood Town return to their Highbury Stadium for Saturday afternoon’s clash with early strugglers, Oldham Athletic, as the hosts look to maintain their 100% winning start at home in this new campaign.
Fleetwood were handed a heavy 3-1 loss away at Bristol Rovers last weekend, but with a winning start on home turf this season with wins registered over Rotherham United and AFC Wimbledon, both by 2-0 margins, they’ll no doubt be confident they can return to winning ways this afternoon.

Oldham Athletic’s losing start to the new season continued last Saturday with a thrilling 4-3 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic, but although they lost, manager John Sheridan will have been encouraged by his side’s persistence as they pushed The Addicks all the way, even after they had substitute Ousmane Fane sent off in the second half.
However, a loss is still a loss, and The Latics now have to travel to Lancashire rivals, Fleetwood Town, as they seek their first win of this season. The omens do not bode well though as they’ve lost all five of their League One fixtures along with a Football Trophy loss to Port Vale.
In fact, Oldham have lost their last eight matches in all competitions on the trot, and have now gone ten matches without a win overall. Confidence is therefore likely to be fragile even at this early stage of the campaign, and the first goal could be pivotal in this clash.
