Forest Green Rovers’ six-match winning streak came to an end on the weekend when they lost out 4-3 away from at Dover Athletic in a high-scoring goal bonanza, but they return to their New Lawn ground for this evening’s clash with Eastleigh.
Forest Green will still be in confident mood though as their current form has lifted them up into second place in the National League just two points behind Lincoln City, while the hosts’ home form has also started in strong fashion, posting a record to date of 3-1-0 9/3.
Wins over Gateshead, York City and Southport have also seen goals being scored on home turf, in fact 8 have been scored by Forest Green in their last three league matches at The New Lawn as they’ve won all three on the bounce.
Visitors Eastleigh were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home by lowly Southport on Saturday and I daresay The Spitfires would have felt like they had dropped two points rather than gained one by that result.
They now have a tough trip to the west country ahead of them on Tuesday night and although they head into this fixture having put together a five-match unbeaten run, their form away from home has been less convincing.
A recent 5-0 romp away at Bromley ended a run of six away matches without a win and indeed Eastleigh have registered just two away wins in the National League from their last 15 trips on the road which ultimately cost them a play-off place at the end of last season.
