Forest Green retained second spot in the National League on Monday night when they beat bottom club Kidderminster 3-0 at their New Lawn ground and they’ll no doubt be looking for more of the same when they take on second from bottom club Torquay United tonight.
Forest Green have won three of their last four in the National League with wins over Altrincham, Boreham Wood along with the recent win over Torquay, while their home record stands at a very solid 11-1-2 28/10 having won their last five on the trot on home turf.
The hosts’ goals have also been spread around between forwards Parkin (9 goals), O’Connor (9 goals) and Guthrie (8 goals) so they have various outlets for goalscoring opportunities.
Visitors Torquay United find themselves in a real mess as they now sit second from bottom in the National League and they’re now in very real danger of dropping out of the non-league top flight as they seem to be in free-fall mode.
Strangely enough, Torquay’s only win from their last ten league matches was a 4-1 home win over today’s opponents Forest Green but it should be noted that this was achieved at their Plainmoor Ground.
The Gulls’ away record though stands at a poor 2-6-6 16/27 and they’re without a win on their travels from their last six matches on the road with recent defeats suffered at Barrow, Chester and Cheltenham Town.
Torquay’s away record at top half teams stands at a very poor 1-2-4 6/11 so they may well struggle in the west country this evening.
