Football – Europe – Euro 2016 Betting Tips

In the last of the quarter-final matches of Euro 2016, host nation France take on the surprise package of the tournament, Iceland, at the Stade de Paris as expectation of the home side lifting the European Championship intensifies.

France came through a couple of close run matches in the group stages as they depended on late winners against Romania and Albania – the latter match saw France score twice in stoppage time, while avoiding defeat to Switzerland in a 0-0 stalemate ensured their passage through to the last 16.

They also received a shock in the last 16 against Republic of Ireland as they found themselves 1-0 down at half-time, but still managed to overturn the Irish to register, what was in the end, a convincing 2-1 win against the Republic who simply ran out of steam.

But France will be tested to their limits on Sunday night against a spirited and well-organised Iceland outfit.

Onto Iceland then, and they secured possibly the biggest victory in their footballing history in the round of 16 when they beat highly fancied England 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Euro 2016 finals.

Although they have become the surprise package of the tournament, we should give credit to hard-working Iceland who have been a revelation in their own rights, but have also deserved their success so far as they’ve shown a real hunger and appetite to win.

They came through the group stages with draws against Portugal and Hungary before beating Austria 2-1 to reach the last 16.

Even though France may win this one eventually, I am confident that Iceland will keep this tight and could even spring another surprise, but go with the safer option here.
