Germany Prediction – Can Germany win Group C?

On the whole, it’s been an impressive showing by Germany in this Euro 2020 qualifying campaign as Joachim Low’s side have successfully negotiated a tricky group that also comprised of Netherlands, Northern Ireland and Belarus, with Estonia making up the numbers.

It was always likely that it would be a battle between the three nations of Germany, Netherlands and Northern Ireland for the top two spots and this has certainly been the case with Germany just on top by a 2-point margin over 2nd placed Netherlands prior to this final round of matches in Group C.

Germany have won 6 of their 7 matches in the group to date with their only failure being a 4-2 loss at home to the Dutch who avenged their earlier 3-2 loss at home to Germany, but the hosts bounced back with 3 wins on the trot over Northern Ireland and Estonia (both away from home) and a 4-0 home win against Belarus.

Interestingly, 11 of Germany’s last 13 Euro qualifiers at home have resulted in a home win and over 2.5 goals, and this trend may well continue against a Northern Ireland outfit here this evening.

Northern Ireland Prediction – Can Northern Ireland cause upset?

The Irish were quickly out of the blocks at the start of their Euro 2020 campaign as Michael O’Neill’s side racked up 4 wins on the trot as they made the most of a relatively easy fixture list, by beating both Estonia and Belarus home and away, scoring 7 goals and conceding just 2 in reply.

However, Northern Ireland’s hopes of achieving a top two finish have been subsequently dashed as they’ve faced the two strongest nations in the group resulting in back-to-back defeats to Germany (2-0 at home) and a 3-1 loss away at Netherlands, but they did hold the Dutch to a 0-0 draw recently at Windsor Park although the Irish desperately needed all three points.

With automatic qualification now out of the question, Northern Ireland will be hoping for a play-off spot in order to have a chance at making next year’s European Championships, and although they’ve performed reasonably well on their travels in Euro qualifiers (losing just 3 out of their last 9 away matches), they possess a poor record against the Germans.

Northern Ireland have lost all of the previous 8 encounters on the trot against Germany and Tuesday night may well bring up a ninth loss on the bounce.

Key-Facts – Germany vs N. Ireland

Betting Tips Verdict

Germany will be keen to end their campaign on a high note and so will Northern Ireland but the hosts can outscore their visitors…
