Gills to make their point over visiting Robins

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 19th August 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Gillingham will be looking to register back-to-back home wins when they take on Swindon Town at Priestfield Stadium on Tuesday night following their 2-0 home win over Yeovil Town at the weekend.

The Gills have actually recorded the ‘double’ over Yeovil Town recently as they also disposed of The Glovers in the first round of the Capital One Cup in midweek last week with a 2-1 win at Huish Park. They now host a wobbling Swindon Town outfit who lost away at Crawley Town on Saturday.

Gillingham manager Peter Taylor has signed Millwall goalkeeper Stephen Bywater on loan and he possesses vast experience at Championship level. With the strike partnership of Danny Kedwell and Cody McDonald up front and creative midfielder Doug Loft (signed from Port Vale)providing the ammunition, The Gills will be quietly confident they can get something from tonight’s encounter.

Swindon Town scored an opening day win over Scunthorpe united 3-1 at home, and then backed that up with a 2-1 away win at League Two newcomers Luton Town in the first round of the League Cup last week.

However, The Robins were brought back down to earth on the weekend as they suffered a 0-1 defeat away at Crawley Town. Swindon will be hoping this is not the sign of things to come again this season as their away record last term was a poor one – an away record of  5-6-12  23/32 ultimately prevented them from making an impact upon the top six of the division, so they’ll be keen to set the record straight as soon as possible.

Gillingham head into tonight’s match on the back of a win and I’ll back them with the quarter ball in their favour tonight to edge the ponts here. The Gills may take this perhaps 1-0.
