Guiseley to avoid defeat to poor Hartlepool

National League Tips

GUISELEY v HARTLEPOOL UNITED

Next up is what could be called an early relegation battle between two struggling sides near the foot of the National League table with hosts, Guiseley, taking on relegated former League Two side, Hartlepool United at their Nethermoor Park.

Fourth from bottom club, Guiseley, have made a slow start to their new non-league top flight campaign having recorded just one win from their first six league matches, which was a 3-2 home win over fellow strugglers, Torquay United.

It could be a long season for Guiseley who have managed just two wins from their last 15 matches overall, but they do hold an unbeaten record of four matches on home turf ahead of this afternoon’s clash with Hartlepool following draws with Solihull Moors, Ebbsfleet United and Tranmere as well as the Torquay win.

Recently relegated from League Two, Hartlepool United have struggled in the early weeks of their new season in the National League as they’re still without a win from their first six matches of this new season.

It’s never easy for new sides to adapt coming into this division, and Pools are no exception as they’ve suffered four defeats in these six matches with losses to Dover Athletic, Maidenhead United, Bromley and Fylde.

The early signs suggest that this, too, could be a long campaign for the north-east outfit who have lost 18 of their last 23 matches away from home in all competitions, which includes just two wins within this demoralising sequence of results.

With this in mind, Guiseley look a good bet to at least avoid defeat here today.
