Hull City Preview – Another big three points for the Tigers?

After dropping out of the EFL Championship with a whimper last season, Hull City have no plans on an extended stay in England’s third tier. To be fair to Grant McCann’s troops, they have spent all season around the top of the table. Overall, the Tigers have won 21, drawn six and lost ten, collecting 69 points from 37 matches.

Hull have been in stunning form of late, taking 16 points from 18 since a 1-0 home loss to Ipswich Town a month back. Before last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town, City sealed successive wins over Wimbledon, Rochdale, Bristol Rovers, Peterborough and Oxford United, scoring 12 and shipping just one.

Our betting prediction:
Hull to win to nil

The Tigers have won three in a row at home, seeing off Rochdale, Bristol Rovers and Oxford all by two goals to nil. McCann’s men would love a repeat scoreline on Saturday.

Gillingham Preview – Can the in-form Gills cause another upset?

Steve Evans’ Gillingham are making a late dash for the play-offs, and the Gills could be dark horses for a top six finish. The Kent club are currently in ninth position with 54 points to their name, only two points adrift of Blackpool, who currently occupy the final play-off place.

Gillingham head to Hull in good spirits, taking seven points from their last three. Before a 2-2 home draw with Donny last time out, the Gills had secured back-to-back away wins over Swindon Town and Lincoln. Evans’ boys have won four of the last six and have lost only two of their previous nine League One matches.

Hull City vs Gillingham Betting Advice

The reverse matchup at the Priestfield Stadium back in September was the first meeting between the two for over 35 years. The Tigers were the better team on the day, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Keane Lewis-Potter and Josh Magennis.

Key Facts – Hull City vs Gillingham Betting Tip

  • Hull are currently three points clear at the top of the table
  • The Tigers won five in a row before last weekend’s draw with Shrewsbury
  • Gillingham have won four of their previous six League One affairs

Hull are hitting their stride at just the right time. They are five points clear of third-place Sunderland, though the Black Cats do have games in hand. McCann & Co. will be after all three points from this one.

As we touched on, Hull ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in the reverse game, and each of their last three home matches have ended in 2-0 wins. Have a punt on Hull to win this one by that same scoreline on Saturday, which you can get at 7/1.

Keane Lewis-Potter, who opened the scoring in Gillingham in September, has scored three in his last three. Back the 20-year-old to score first on Saturday at 6/1.
