Thursday evening brings us part two of this week’s Brazilian Serie A action with my next preview featuring second placed Internacional taking on second from bottom outfit, America MG as the betting tips continue.
The venue is the Estádio José Pinheiro Borda in Porto Alegre with Internacional desperate to keep tabs on the league leaders, Palmeiras, and with a five match unbeaten sequence behind them, the hosts will be confident of taking the spoils in this clash.
Wins over Sao Paulo and Atletico PR have been helpful but recent draws with Santos, Vasco da Gama and Ceara have meant that the hosts have lost ground on Palmeiras. However, Internacional still remain unbeaten on home soil with an impressive record of 12-4-0 27/8 and have won five of their last six.
America Mineiro suffered a third league defeat on the trot last time out when they went down 1-0 at home to Parana which was the final straw for the club’s board; former manager Adilson Batista was fired and they brought in Givanildo Oliveira to try and perform a great escape.
That defeat has left America MG three points adrift of 16th placed Sport Recife and safety, and having now gone 10 matches without a win in the Brazilian top flight along with facing second placed Internacional on Thursday night, things look bleak for the visitors.
A poor away record of 2-3-11 8/23 only adds to their worries along with losing four of their last six on their travels and failing to score in five of these too! at the other end, America Mineiro have managed to keep just three clean sheets on the road all season.
My betting tips therefore advise a comfortable win for Internacional.
