Jiangsu Suning Preview – Can Jiangsu get back on track?
After a couple of tough and difficult fixtures in Group A of the Chinese Super League which resulted in back-to-back defeats against Shanghai Shenhua (at home) and Guangzhou Evergrande (away), Monday’s hosts, Jiangsu Suning, will be seeking to return to winning ways when they entertain third from bottom outfit, Shenzhen.
Jiangsu Suning had previously started the new Super League season in positive fashion as they’d put together a four-match unbeaten run which included wins against Henan Jianye, Dalian Pro and Guangzhou R&F, along with a point in a draw with 2nd placed Shandong Luneng.
The hosts had also previously put together a nine-match unbeaten sequence at home before the loss to Shanghai, but with five clean sheets beforehand, seven wins and having won their last two meetings on the trot against Shenzhen, Jiangsu Suning will be confident that they can bounce back here.
Shenzhen Preview – Can Shenzhen win back-to-back?
A 3-2 home win against bottom club, Dalian Pro, ended a concerning four-match losing streak for Shenzhen and they’ll be looking to post back-to-back wins in the Super League for the first time since March of last year when they registered wins against Hebei and Tianjin Tianhai.
Since then however, Shenzhen have picked up just a further four wins from the subsequent 34 matches played (all of which were registered on home turf at their Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre), so the prospects of an away win here seem remote at best.
Indeed, Shenzhen have now gone an incredible 37 away matches without a win which must surely be one of the worst away records in any domestic top flight and includes no fewer than 29 defeats during this woeful sequence of results on the road.
