Kazakhstan Prediction – Can Kazakhstan use home advantage?

Thursday night’s hosts, Kazakhstan, occupy 3rd place in Group I but find themselves a massive 8 points adrift of 2nd placed Russia who occupy the last remaining automatic qualification spot for next year’s European Championship.

This upcoming fixture against Cyprus therefore signifies a ‘must win’ situation for Kazakhstan, but although they’ve posted mixed results overall so far in their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, the home side have captured both of their wins to date at the Astana Arena, so they’ll be reasonably confident that they can get a result here tonight.

Kazakhstan’s three defeats to date in this group have been a 4-0 loss at home to Russia and defeats on the road at Belgium and Russia but results at home have been far more encouraging overall.

A 3-0 win over Scotland and a 4-0 romp against rock-bottom San Marino have seen Kazakhstan gain points against their closest rivals, and overall, Kazakhstan have lost just 2 out of their last 9 matches at home in all competitions.

Cyprus Prediction – Can Cyprus get anything on road?

The visitors did the ‘double’ over poor San Marino last time out in the Euro 2020 qualifiers as they registered a heavy 4-0 defeat upon the rock-bottom nation away from home last month and this became Cyprus’s second win in these group qualifiers, having recorded a 5-0 thrashing of the bottom nation back in March.

However, this is pretty much where Cyprus’s successes have stopped as the visitors have also lost 3 of their 6 group matches to date with defeats to Belgium, Scotland and Russia with the latter two results being back-to-back defeats away from home.

Results away from home though have been generally poor for Cyprus as the visitors have registered just 1 win out of their last 11 matches on their travels (v San Marino) in all competitions, which includes 9 defeats and also failing to score in 6 of these 11 matches too.

Throw in the fact that Cyprus have managed to keep just 1 clean sheet from their last 32 away matches in all competitions, and you can see the problems that the Cypriots have had on the road on the international stage.

Key-Facts – Kazakhstan v Cyprus

  • Kazakhstan have lost just 2 out of their last 9 matches at home in all competitions
  • Kazakhstan have won 2 of their 3 home matches to date in Group I
  • Cyprus have won just 1 of their last 11 away matches in all competitions

Betting Tips Verdict

Kazakhstan with home advantage should have the edge over a poor-travelling Cyprus outfit.
