Mansfield to consolidate play-off status with win over Chesterfield

League One/Two Tips

MANSFIELD TOWN v CHESTERFIELD

Football – England – League Two Betting Tips

The early kick-off in League Two brings us an east midlands derby between Mansfield Town and Chesterfield with the home side looking to consolidate their current position in the play-off pack with a win in the lunchtime match.

Mansfield Town sit in seventh spot in the English fourth tier, but all three points today would see them steal a march on their play-off rivals and move them up into fourth spot behind Accrington Stanley. Recent form suggests this may well be the case as The Stags have won their last three league matches on the trot with wins over Coventry City, Stevenage and Port Vale, all to nil.

Mansfield will be in a confident frame of mind too as they’d put Port Vale to the sword during the week with a resounding 4-0 win, while their home record stands at a solid  5-3-1 16/9 with striker Rose (9 goals) and Hemmings (4 goals) the likely anytime goal scorers for the hosts.

Visitors Chesterfield, by comparison, have had to endure a disastrous campaign so far in League Two as they sit bottom of the division with just four league wins to their name to date – three of which have been achieved at their Proact Stadium.

Nevertheless, The Spireites have shown signs of a recovery in recent times as they head into this clash on the back of a four match run without defeat as they’ve collected recent back-to-back wins over Exeter City and Forest Green Rovers.

As mentioned though, these were on home turf, and while they took a point off Swindon Town in a 2-2 draw at the County Ground recently, Chesterfield’s away record leaves a lot to be desired at  1-2-6  9/19. Only Yeovil Town and Forest Green have conceded more away goals than The Spireites to date.
