Midtjylland will be keen to extend their impressive early season form on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Silkeborg following a nine-match run without defeat.
Midtjylland have aso progressed through to the third qualifying round of the Europa League as well having disposed of Suduva and Vaduz, and they look well placed to make it to the next round as they hold a 1-0 lead over Videoton with an away win from the first leg.
This afternoon’s hosts are also unbeaten from their first two matches in the new Danish Superliga following a 2-2 draw at home with Randers which was then followed up with a resounding 4-0 win away at Nordsjaelland last Sunday.
Onto visitors Silkeborg, and their start to the new season couldn’t be further from Midtjylland’s as they have gained just one point from the opening two games of the season with a draw against OB away from home, but lost 2-0 at home to Brondby last weekend.
Looking at the bigger picture, Silkeborg have now gone 14 matches without a win at the Superliga level, but following promotion from the 1st Division at the end of last season, they have a chance to redeem themselves in the top flight again this term.
However, Silkeborg’s recent record against Midtjylland is not a good one as they’ve lost their last three matches overall to today’s hosts in 1-0, 2-1 and 2-1 defeats respectively. In their last appearance at this level, Silkeborg ended their season some 23 points adrift of safety with an overall away record of 2-3-12 13/28.
I’m confident of a Midtjylland win and will also back them to cover the asian line too.
