Moldova – Can Moldova maintain their dominance over Andorra?

Moldova were handed a tough opening fixture schedule in Group H of these Euro 2020 qualifiers as the hosts had to play the top two teams of the group, namely, France and Turkey in quick succession which they duly lost 4-1 and 4-0 respectively to leave them at the bottom of the early placings in this group.

These became Moldova’s second and third defeats on the trot after a friendly 1-0 loss away at Kazakhstan but prior to that, Moldova had put together a promising 5-match sequence without defeat which included wins against San Marino (home and away) along with points picked up in draws with Belarus (home and away) and Luxembourg, all of which were gained during their recent Nations League campaign.

Recent results have also picked up on home turf at their Stadionul Zimbru too as the hosts have lost just 2 of their last 5 matches on home soil with losses to Austria and the World Cup holders, France, but they have a good opportunity to kick-start their Euro 2020 campaign off with three points in this clash.

Moldova hold superiority over Andorra in previous meetings as the hosts have won 3 of their previous 4 encounters, and drawn the other match, so they’ll be confident they can take the spoils on Saturday evening.

Andorra Prediction – Can Andorra avoid another defeat to Moldova?

Andorra have also started their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with back-to-back defeats but these were against lesser opposition in the shape of Iceland and Albania, losing 2-0 and 3-0 respectively and both on home turf at their Estadi Nacional.

They now have to hit the road and face their nemesis in recent times, Moldova, who have won 3 of the last 4 meetings between these two sides and Andorra’s task is made even tougher by the fact that the visitors have now gone 10 matches without a win in all competitions.

Andorra’s last success came in the shape of a 1-0 win away at Liechtenstein back in March of last year, but that’s been their only success out of their last 16 matches overall.

Andorra’s recent Nations League campaign saw the visitors finish bottom of Group 1 in League D level on points with third from bottom nation, Latvia, with 3 of their 4 points gained being on home turf in 3 draws.

The other point was gained in a 0-0 draw away at Latvia, but they’ll be up against a Moldovan outfit who have had the wood over them in recent times on Saturday.
