Monaco Preview – Will the Red and Whites make it three wins in a row?
Since replacing Leonardo Jardim in December, former Spain boss Roberto Moreno has had a mixed bag of results at the Stade Louis II. However, after three consecutive league and cup defeats, Monaco have sealed back-to-back Ligue 1 wins over Angers and Amiens.
Last week’s 1-0 victory over Angers was Monaco’s first home league win since thumping Lille 5-1 on December 21st. The Red and Whites won six league and cup home matches in a row a couple of months ago, but they have picked up just two victories in their previous seven in all competitions at the Stade Louis II.
Monaco currently sit seventh in the table with 35 points to their name. So far, they have won ten, lost nine and drawn five. The Monegasques are five points adrift of fourth spot. Can Moreno’s men secure a crucial three points on home soil on Friday night?
Montpellier Preview – Can the visitors pick up a rare victory on the road?
Michel Der Zakarian’s Montpellier are enjoying another fine season in Ligue 1. La Paillade finished seventh last term, and they are flying high in fifth place at present, three points behind fourth-place Lille. Victory in Monaco on Friday will take them into fourth spot on goal difference.
Montpellier have been in superb form over the last couple of months or so. They lost three in a row in December, but Der Zakarian’s men have won six of their following nine across all competitions, with their only defeat during that time coming to champions Paris Saint-Germain at the beginning of the month.

Only current leaders PSG have a better home record, but Montpellier have struggled on the road this term, winning only one of their 11 Ligue 1 away fixtures, drawing five and losing five of the other ten. Three points away from home on Friday will be very welcome for Montpellier.

Monaco have not beaten Montpellier in league action since February 2017. Since then, La Paillade have won two and drawn three of the following five Ligue 1 meetings.
