Notts County and Coventry City do battle once again in this League Two semi-final play-off second leg at Meadow Lane with the scores level after a 1-1 draw in the first leg a few days ago.
Notts County would now seemingly have the edge as they return to their home surroundings for this return leg, but The Magpies have registered just three league wins from their last 10 matches overall, which included a 2-1 home win over tonight’s opponents, Coventry City, along with victories over Colchester United and Yeovil Town.
Turning to home form, Notts County have built up a solid foundation prior to this second leg having put together an eight match unbeaten run on home turf amidst an overall record which finished up on 14-7-2 43/19 which included 10 matches resulting under 2.5 goals and a total of nine clean sheets.
Onto Coventry City and they may be regretting not getting a lead ahead of this second leg at Notts County as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Ricoh Arena, particularly when you consider their away record ended up on a disappointing 9-5-9 28/23.
Coventry have registered just three wins from their last nine overall in League Two, which were against Crawley Town, Stevenage and a crushing 6-1 win away at Cheltenham Town, but although the Sky Blues picked up results on the road towards the end of the season, they’ll do well to get a result against a solid and consistent Notts County outfit I feel.
And by contrast, Coventry kept just six clean sheets on their travels throughout the League Two campaign, and this could prove to be a determining factor in deciding tonight’s second leg.
This is expected to be a tightly contested leg, but I believe Notts County can prevail here in the end to progress to the final at Wembley.
