Molde are beginning to motor and are going in search of a sixth straight win when they travel to face Odd who have had a somewhat inconsistent campaign to date.

Odd – Will Odd build on their win last time out and creep closer to European spots?

Although not regarded as one of the bigger clubs in Norway, Odd would have been disappointed with their campaign last season which seen them finish 13th – just one place above the relegation playoff spots. Winning only eight games from their 30 in the league was enough to see the club look to Pal Arne Johansen who took over in January having been involved in the international youth set-up.

Approaching the first game after the recent international break, Johansen will be relatively happy with how his team have negotiated the first third of the campaign. Odd have won four and lost six, and although inconsistent, they picking up victories and already halfway to equalling last season’s number of wins.

Our betting prediction
Molde to win to nil
3/1
(odds taken 2000 GMT, Tuesday 14 June)
Odd would have been delighted to get a win immediately before the break, beating HamKam 2-1 on the road. The impressive goal scoring midfielder Milan Jevtovic got the first in that win, and has scored four in total to lead the charts for his team. He’s not been a regular in the first eleven until this season and is very much benefiting from the change in head coach.
Where Johansen will be hoping for some improvement is in his team’s form at home. They’ve lost their last three and failed to score in each of them. The fact they are playing the in form team in the league tomorrow is not ideal as they look to end that run.

Molde Preview – Can Molde continue their excellent form and give themselves a chance of going top of the table?

It wasn’t the start that Molde were hoping for as they looked to end Bodo’s recent dominance in Norway, but there is no doubt that the 2019 champions are finding their best form, reeling off five straight wins before the break. They sit two points behind current leaders Lillestrom but you sense it is only a matter of time before they take over from that rival and assume top spot.

There is a chance they can do just that this weekend if they win here and the current leaders falter, but it is all about the three points at this stage and continuing their excellent run.

Key to Molde’s resurgence has been their form away from home. Erling Moe’s men are unbeaten on their travels, winning three and drawing once. They’ve also kept three clean sheets in their last four which gives an indication of where one of their strength’s lie, only Lillestrom have conceded less to date.

At the other end, Magnus Grodem is showing signs of maturing after breaking into the team last season. The midfielder has four in eight and scored in each of his last three before the international break.

Odd vs Molde Betting Advice

This will be the second meeting between the teams this season and it was something of a non contest back in May when Molde ran out 3-0 winners. That extended their unbeaten record over Odd and a sixth win in that time. They will take confidence from that trend as well as their form overall heading into this game.

The one concern for the visitors is how they come back after the three week break but you have to be hopeful that wouldn’t have disrupted them too much.

Key Facts –  Odd vs Molde Betting Tip

  • Odd have played five at home this season, winning twice and losing the other three
  • Molde remain unbeaten on their travels in the league, winning three of their first four
  • The visitors are unbeaten in their last nine against this opponent, winning six of them

With Odd struggling at home both for points and goals, I’m taking Molde to get a sixth straight win and perhaps ending the weekend on top of the table.
