Orlando reached the playoffs last season but their challenge was ended at the first hurdle in the post-season – losing 3-1 away to Nashville. Oscar Preja will now be looking to build on the fact they have made it to the playoffs in both seasons since he took charge, and progress to become realistic challengers for their first ever MLS Cup. This campaign certainly started in positive fashion, losing only three of their first 10 games. They’ve lost a couple more in their last five but are still well placed sitting in fifth coming into this match,
City are four points off leaders and current champions New York City in the Eastern Conference, although they have played a couple more games than that rival.
Houston Dynamo Preview – Can Dynamo record just a third away win in 32 MLS games?
Houston had a season to forget last season, finishing bottom of the Western Conference and a full 18 points outside the playoff spots. It is a far cry from when winning back to back title on entry to the MLS back in 2006 and 2007. However, it’s now four straight seasons where they have missed out on the post-season, so it is an obvious objective for Paulo Nagamura to achieve having taken over in January.
The Brazilian has made a reasonable start to life in MLS with Houston in a much more encouraging position now compared to recent seasons. Dynamo are one point outside the playoff positions and can move into them this weekend with a win.

It would have been a frustrating international break for Houston on the back of a 3-0 loss away to Real Salt Lake. That is the latest in a series of really poor form on the road which stretches back for three years. Their last 50 away games in the MLS have seen them win just four. The league is notorious for poor travellers but that is a dire record.
The South American duo of Sebastian Ferreira and Darwin Quintero have combined for 10 of Houston’s 17 goals in the MLS so far. Only seven players have actually managed a goal in the league for Dynamo so far.
