There’s just the one game being played in the US MLS on Wednesday night, and it’s an all-Eastern Conference clash between Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew with the hosts no doubt relieved to be returning to their home turf tonight.
Philadelphia have suffered back-to-back defeats on their road trips at Montreal Impact and tonight’s visitors, Columbus Crew in 2-1 and 1-0 losses respectively, but they have a chance to gain revenge on Columbus in tonight’s match at their Talen Energy Stadium.
Philadelphia currently sit third from bottom in the Conference, but having won five of their last six on home soil, they’ll be confident of getting a result here this evening, as their home record now stands at an improved 5-2-3 17/13.
Visitors Columbus Crew occupy sixth place in the Eastern Conference and indeed, the last remaining play-off spot ahead of their trip over to Philadelphia on the back of recent wins over Minnesota United and tonight’s hosts, Philadelphia Union.
That recent win at Minnesota United ended a miserable run of four defeats on the trot for Columbus Crew who had lost at New England, Toronto, Colorado Rapids and Atlanta United. They’ll be looking to improve their away record which currently stands at a disappointing 3-0-7 10/20.
This may be easier said than done though as their last visit to Philadelphia ended in a 3-2 loss, and this match could well go the same way.
