In-form Portsmouth to add to Shrewsbury's woes

In-form Portsmouth take on Shrewsbury Town as the betting tips look to see if Pompey can rack up a fourth consecutive win at Fratton Park this Saturday afternoon.

Portsmouth have made quite a splash so far in this season’s League One campaign as they sit joint top with Peterborough United having narrowly missed out on a play-off spot at the end of their first season back in the third tier last term.

Pompey are in great form right now as they’ve picked up five wins from their first six matches of the season which includes a 100% record on home turf following home wins over Luton Town, Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle.

The hosts boast an impressive starting home record of  3-0-0  8/1 under manager Kenny Jackett, and there’s no reason why they can’t make it four on the trot this afternoon. Midfielder Lowe (4 goals) leads the way, while striker Pitman will be keen to open his account.

Last season’s League One Play-off finalists, Shrewsbury Town, have made an inauspicious start their new third tier campaign so far this season as they’re still without a win from their first six matches of the new term.

The Shrews still seem to be suffering from their disappointment at Wembley at the end of last season where they lost in extra-time to Rotherham United, and having picked up just one point on their travels from their first three away matches, they could struggle this afternoon at Portsmouth too.

Defeats at Charlton Athletic and Luton Town have bookended a point away at Doncaster Rovers but the Shrews have managed just one win from their last nine on the road.

Another defeat here could see the pressure increase on manager John Askey and my betting tips suggest this is a real possibility.
