Portugal Preview – Can Portugal win back-to-back?
Portugal got themselves off to a flyer in their opening match in Group F as they registered a comprehensive 3-0 rout of Hungary and they’ll be seeking a result over Germany in this second match of the group stages with the Portuguese in solid form.
Portugal have lost just one of their last 16 matches in all competitions which was to France in last November’s Nations League but 11 wins during this period show that Portugal should be considered amongst one of the favourites to win this Euro 2020.
The victory over Hungary stretched Portugal’s unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches which includes four clean sheets and although they lost 4-0 in their last meeting against Germany, that was back in 2014 and Portugal have closed the gap on their opponents since then.

Germany were handed a narrow 1-0 defeat against France in their opening match in Group F and they cannot afford another defeat here as by the time they meet Hungary in their third and final group match, they could be out of the tournament.
Recent results have produced mixed returns for the Germans as they’ve picked up victories over Iceland, Romania and Latvia but have also slipped to defeats against Spain, North Macedonia and France, so they’re by no means guaranteed of even gaining a point here.
Germany have lost just two of their last seven matches in the European Championships but both of these were their last two games and they face a strong Portugal outfit here who are in confident mood.
