Russia and Cyprus meet at the Krestovsky Stadium this Thursday in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Russians lead the way at the top of Group H after an excellent qualifying campaign thus far, winning six of eight games. If they win their last two, Russia will directly qualify for Qatar. Cyprus are bottom of the group with just five points to their name, so Valeri Karpin’s men will be targeting a comfortable home win here. We have the latest odds and top tips.

Russia Preview – Can the Russians go into the final day at the top?

Russia’s performances during this 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign have been superb. So far, the Russians have dropped just five points from a possible 24. They have picked up six wins from eight games, drawing one and losing one of the other two.

Since a goalless draw with Croatia in Moscow two months back, Russia have romped their way to four straight victories to go top of Group H. They are currently two points above Croatia in the race for top spot.

Our betting prediction:
Russia to be winning at half time & full time

After Thursday’s clash with the Cypriots in Saint Petersburg, Russia end their campaign with a crunch match against the Croatians in Split. The winners of that one will surely take first place and directly quality for next year’s World Cup in Qatar . Can the Russians end with two massive wins?

Cyprus Preview – Sixth defeat for the Cypriots?

Cyprus have had a pretty forgettable 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign. The Cypriots have struggled in Group H, picking up just one victory from their eight games. They have lost five and drawn two of the other seven.

Lack of goals has been the real issue for Nikos Kostenoglou’s side, as Cyprus have netted a mere three in eight qualifying fixtures. They drew 0-0 with Slovakia in their opener but have gone on to lose five of the next seven. Their only victory came against Slovenia on matchday three.

In the game at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia eight weeks ago, Russia ran out comfortable 2-0 winners. Aleksandr Yerokhin sent them on their way with a goal in the sixth minute. Ten minutes after the break, Rifat Zhemaletdinov doubled the Russians’ advantage.

Russia have won the last four meetings without conceding a single goal. In a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier back in October 2019, they thumped Cyprus 5-0 away from home.
