Sunday brings us further action from the Brazilian Series A and the first of my betting tips features Sao Paulo taking on Vasco da Game at the Morumbi with the hosts looking to maintain their title challenge.
Sao Paulo have picked up five wins from their last six matches overall as they continue to push current Serie A leaders, Flamengo, in the race for the league title with important victories gained over Atletico PR, Vitoria, Flamengo, Corinthians and Cruzeiro.
The hosts also possess a very solid record on home turf with stats of 5-2-0 13/5 which includes four clean sheets from their seven league matches, and they’re actuality unbeaten in their last 17 matches which is an excellent record. Forwards, Nene and Souza (6 goals apiece) are the ones to watch for the hosts.
Vasco da Gama make their way to Sao Paulo having suffered recent back-to-back defeats to LDU Quito in the Copa Sudamericana and that was followed by a heavy 4-1 thrashing at home to Corinthians in last week’s Series A clash.
The visitors have produced mixed results in recent weeks as they’ve recorded wins over Sport Recife and Gremio at home in the league, but have also lost at International and the aforementioned home loss to Corinthians.
Their away form has yet to produce a single victory so far this season, as all five of their league wins have all been registered at their Estadio Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama, while on their travels, they’ve posted a disappointing away record of 0-3-2 4/9 to date.
Vasco da Gama have also conceded in each of their five away matches so far, and they’ll do very well to keep a clean sheet here I fancy, with my betting tips suggesting Sao Paulo to cover the asian line.
