Southampton Preview – Will the Saints make home advantage count?

Southampton have had a mixed bag of results of late, though the Saints have suffered just one defeat in their last seven league and cup fixtures. Last time out, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s troops held Premier League leaders Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.

Southampton were involved in a five-goal thriller with Swansea City in the third round. The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, but we were treated to three goals in extra time, with two of those going to the Saints.

Our betting prediction:

Southampton have been excellent in front of their home fans this season, suffering just one home loss. Since losing in the league to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Hampshire club have won three and drawn five of eight at St Mary’s. Will their unbeaten home run continue this weekend?

Coventry City Preview – Can the Championship club defy the bookies?

Coventry City were one of the surprise packages in the Championship in the early months of the season. Mark Robins’ men have gone off the boil lately, but the Sky Blues are just five points away from the play-offs at present.

Coventry are in patchy form, as the Midlands club have won three and lost two of their last five in all competitions. In their last one, City lost 1-0 against promotion rivals Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Southampton vs Coventry City Betting Advice

Southampton have won the last three meetings. When the pair last locked horns, the Saints won 4-0 in a Championship game back in the 2011-12 season. They also battled in the FA Cup that year, with Southampton winning 2-1 on the road.

Coventry’s last win over the Saints came in the Championship in October 2008, as Jay Tabb bagged a brace in a 4-1 romp.

Key Facts – Southampton vs Coventry City Betting Tip

  • Southampton have suffered just one home defeat this term
  • The Saints held in-form Man City to a draw in their last one
  • This will be the first meeting between the Saints and Sky Blues in a decade

Southampton have been incredibly hard to topple on their own patch this season. The Sky Blues have been decent on the road in recent months, but they lost at the Riverside in their last outing.

Hasenhuttl’s side will fancy their chances in this one, and there is good value in 13/10 for the hosts to win -1. Also, you can get 13/10 for Southampton to be winning at half time and full time.
