Suriname Preview – Can Suriname pull off upset?
Despite winning five matches on the trot across the CONCACAF Nations League and World Cup qualifiers, Suriname have now slipped to two defeats on the trot as they prepare for this tough looking assignment against Costa Rica.
Victories over Dominica and Nicaragua in the Nations League were followed by World Cup qualifier wins against Cayman Islands, Aruba and Bermuda but a resounding 4-0 loss to Canada brought them crashing back down to earth.
An opening group 2-0 loss to Jamaica now has Suriname on the back foot and they will have their work cut out to get any type of result against Costa Rica here.

As expected, Costa Rica got off to a winning start in their opening match in Group C with a convincing 3-1 victory over Guadeloupe and they know that another three points against new-boys, Suriname, would seal their place in the quarter-finals of this Gold Cup.
Prior to the start of the tournament, Costa Rica had had to endure a tough time of it in various international friendlies and the CONCACAF Nations League which yielded just one win during a torrid 17-match period, but they got themselves off to a good start against Guadeloupe.
Costa Rica will be eager for more of the same here on Friday night and having won each of the previous seven meetings on the trot against their opponents, including 4-1 and 7-0 wins in their last two meetings respectively, they look too strong fro Suriname here.
