Sweden Prediction – Can Sweden cement 2nd place?

Sweden have done enough against the other teams in Group F to be in 2nd spot behind the group favourites, Spain, as the hosts have gained wins over Romania 2-1, Malta 3-0 and a resounding 4-0 thumping of the Faroe Islands away from home last time out.

In addition, Sweden have captured a valuable point away from home in their previous encounter against Norway as the points were shared in an eventful 3-3 draw at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo, and these results have more than made up for their early and expected defeat to the Group F favourites, Spain.

Indeed, that loss to Spain has been Sweden’s only blot on their copybook out of their last 9 Euro qualifiers overall, while at home, the hosts have won 12 of their last 14 Euro qualifiers which is a pretty solid record.

With Norway and Malta being Sweden’s next two opponents before they meet Spain again, Sunday’s hosts will be keen to add further points to their tally as they look to nail down the second qualifying spot.

Norway Prediction – Can Norway overtake Sweden into 2nd place?

3rd placed Norway have also enjoyed a reasonable start to their Euro 2020 campaign as the visitors still remain unbeaten at home and have lost just 1 of their first 5 matches of this Group F phase, which predictably, was an away loss at Spain.

However, since that opening defeat, Norway have picked up points along the way with back-to-back draws against Sweden and Romania in 3-3 and 2-2 results, as well as registering back-to-back wins over Faroe Islands and Malta who are battling it out to avoid the wooden spoon in Group F.

But whilst Norway’s results in Oslo have been steady enough and they still remain unbeaten, their performances away from home have been very inconsistent as Norway have recorded just 4 wins out of their last 10 matches away from home in Euro qualifiers.

Wins at Malta, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Faroe Islands are all well and good but can they secure a result against a solid Sweden outfit here?

Key-Facts – Sweden v Norway

  • Sweden have won 12 of their last 14 Euro qualifiers at home
  • Norway have recorded just 4 wins out of their last 10 away Euro qualifiers
  • The last 3 encounters between these two teams have all ended in draws

Betting Tips Verdict

Sweden with home advantage should just edge this one but use the asian handicap on the hosts in this one.
