I go around the grounds across Europe now to find some value selections in Monday night’s footballing action, and my next stop is the Russian Premier League, looking at hosts, Terek Grozny, taking on early strugglers, Arsenal Tula, at their Akhmat Arena.
Following a promising start to the new Russian top flight season which saw Terek Grozny win their first three league matches on the trot (with wins over Amkar Perm, Rostov and Dinamo Moscow), the home side have since slumped to three defeats on the bounce which has left them in a mid-table position.
However, home form has been good so far for Terek, and they’ll fancy their chances of putting an end to their recent defeats with a win tonight over Arsenal Tula who they beat 3-1 last time on home turf back in April.
Arsenal Tula currently occupy third from bottom spot in the Russian Premier League after gaining just one league win from their first six weeks of the new domestic season. That rare success was a 1-0 home win over newcomers, SKA Khabarovsk, but their away results continue in woeful fashion.
Arsenal Tula narrowly escaped relegation from the top flight at the end of last season as they drew 2-2 with FNL side, Yenisey, and only survived thanks to the away goal rule as they lost 2-1 away in the first leg, but won 1-0 at home in the return leg.
However, last season they went throughout the whole campaign without an away win, and they’ve lost their opening three away matches on the trot this term to date. Indeed, Tula have lost their last 12 away matches on the trot .
