Tranmere Rovers were dealt a 2-1 loss at Prenton Park last time out against Solihull Moors but Rovers have one more game to atone for that loss when they take on Hartlepool United this Saturday lunchtime as the hosts prepare for the play-offs.
Regardless of the defeat to Solihull, Tranmere would have had to settle for the runners-up spot anyway as Macclesfield Town hold a commanding seven point lead at the top of the division, and have now been crowned as champions with promotion back to the Football League.
Tranmere will be looking to join them in League Two next season via the play-offs, and having won eight of their last ten on home turf amidst a strong home record of 15-2-5 47/21, Rovers look a strong outfit.
Hartlepool United have found life in the National League difficult this season as Pools would have been looking to bounce back into League Two following last season’s relegation, but as with many teams in their situation before, they’ve been given a rude awakening in one of the hardest divisions to gain promotion from.
Hartlepool have put together a pretty good run of form though ahead of this final day of the season as they’ve lost just twice in their last ten, which includes recent wins over Maidstone United and Leyton Orient, and their fans must be wondering why they couldn’t have started the season with this kind of form.
Hartlepool are also unbeaten in their last four on the road which includes taking points off play-off contenders, Sutton United and Fylde, but can they repeat away at Tranmere on Saturday?
