Tranmere Rovers Preview – Can the third-tier Whites cause an upset on home soil?
Micky Mellon’s Tranmere Rovers booked their place in League One by winning the EFL League Two play-offs last season. However, the Super White Army have found it tough going so far, as they have won only five of 24 League One matches.
After failing to beat fellow strugglers Southend United at Prenton Park last time out, Rovers remain in the bottom three. Overall, the Merseyside outfit have taken 22 points from 24 games.
This will be Tranmere’s fifth FA Cup match of the season. In round one, Rovers needed a replay to see off Wycombe Wanderers. Mellon’s side then thumped Chichester City 5-1 in the second round.
Tranmere have been in poor form of late, winning just one game across all competitions since beating MK Dons away from home in league action on November 2nd. They have also lost their last two at Prenton Park. Can the Whites cause an unlikely cup upset on Tuesday?
Watford Preview – Will the in-form Premier League outfit be too strong?
Since Nigel Pearson took over at Vicarage Road, Watford have really turned a corner. The former Leicester City boss divided opinion when joining, but nobody can argue with the stunning impact he’s had on the club so far.
Pearson lost at Liverpool in his first game in charge in mid-December, but the Hornets are unbeaten in six league and cup games since then, winning four and drawing two. Last weekend, Watford secured a superb 3-0 victory at fellow strugglers Bournemouth, moving out of the bottom three as a result.

Watford were stunned by Tranmere in the first game. Goals from Tom Dele-Bashiru, Nathaniel Chalobah and Roberto Pereyra gave them a seemingly unassailable lead at the break. However, a brilliant comeback by the League One team has forced a replay.
Watford will be desperate to put things right and book their spot in the fourth round where a home game with either Manchester United or Wolverhampton Wanderers awaits. Will the Hornets get the job done at Prenton Park?
