Eredivisie at Bet Victor

This Saturday will see the first weekend of matches in the Dutch top flight in the Eredivisie and our next fixture features a clash between newly promoted Twente, and PSV as the betting tips continue at the De Grolsch Veste.

Twente Prediction – Can Twente consolidate?

Newly promoted Twente have an extremely tough return to the Eredivisie in their opening match of the season as they play host to PSV.

Following relegation from the Dutch top flight two seasons ago, Twente made an instant return to the Eredivisie at the end of last season.

The hosts romped to the Eerste Divisie title as they finished with a 11-point cushion ahead of runners-up, Sparta Rotterdam who were also promoted via the play-offs.

Now the hard work begins for Twente whose primary objective this term must surely be to consolidate their Eredivisie status.

Twente will feel reasonably confident ahead of this daunting encounter though as they’ve put together a 6-match sequence without defeat.

Their last two matches of last season’s Eerste Divisie ended with a 5-2 win away at Ajax B and a 2-2 draw at home with Cambuur.

They then followed that up with a reasonably successful pre-season where Twente drew with Al Wahda, OH Leuven and Schalke 04.

In addition, they ended their warm-up matches with a 1-0 home win against Turkish club, Konyaspor to send them into their opening day of the season in high spirits.

PSV Prediction – Can PSV shrug off midweek defeat?

PSV will need to dust themselves down in preparation for their opening match of the season when they travel to Twente this Saturday.

The visitors were bundled out of the Champions League in the 2nd qualifying round against Swiss outfit, Basel, even though the scores were tied at 4-4.

A 3-2 home win in the 1st leg for PSV ultimately worked against them as Basel scored 2 all-important away goals which was enough to send them through.

Basel completed PSV’s misery by winning 2-1 at home in the return leg, so PSV know they need to bounce back here this Saturday.

Last season saw PSV finish runners-up to Eredivisie title winners, Ajax, by just a 3-point margin which ensures a second bite of the cherry on the European front.

Although they crashed out of the Champions League, PSV will take their place in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League.

But it’s the bread and butter of top flight football that concerns PSV today and they’ll be looking to build upon their previous successes over Twente on Saturday.

The visitors have a great record over Twente as they’ve won 7 of the last 9 meetings against their hosts.

Key-Facts – Twente v PSV

  • Twente won the Eerste Divisie title last season and achieved automatic promotion
  • PSV finished runners-up to Ajax in the Eredivisie last season
  • PSV have won 7 of the last 9 meetings against Twente

Betting Tips Verdict

Twente will be keen to get off to a good start in their opening home match in their return to the Eredivisie, but PSV could inflict a backlash here.
