Onto the Portuguese top flight and a Monday night clash between 7th placed Vitoria Guimaraes and 15th placed Feirense at the Estádio Dom Afonso Henriques as the hosts look for all three points which would move them level on points with 6th placed Rio Ave.
Guimaraes come into this encounter on the back of two league wins on the trot in the Primeira Liga with a 1-0 win away at the aforementioned Rio Ave as well as a 2-1 win on the road at Vitoria Setubal, so confidence should be high for the hosts having won both of their recent away matches.
The home side still have much to do on home turf though with a record of 3-1-2 10/14 which includes losing 3-1 at home to Benfica last time out, and they’ll no doubt be keen to avenge a 1-0 defeat to tonight’s opponents, Feirense, the last time they met back in May this year.
Onto the visitors, and Feirense sit in a lowly 15th place in the Primeira Liga ladder following a dire run of four league defeats on the trot with losses to Benfica, Maritimo, Sporting Braga and Desportivo Aves which has left them two places and three points above the relegation zone.
In addition, Feirense have really struggled away from home in the Portuguese top flight so far this season which is underlined by their disappointing away record of 1-1-4 4/7, which also includes four defeats on the trot prior to this trip to Guimaraes.
Feirense have failed to score in three of their six away matches to date, and this lack of firepower up front may well be their undoing again on Monday night.
