Danyah the 2/1 favourite in Ripon Rowels Handicap

There is plenty of potential on side for DANYAH who is the 2/1 favourite for this fixture* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 18:25 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).

He returned to action in June with a score in a Doncaster handicap from a field of ten.

Danyah was then the 11/4 FAV for a run at Newbury in August but he was a little below par on that one, settling for third of fourteen.

He is lightly raced as the three-year-old will only be making his sixth start in this one.

Danyah will also be going up to the mile trip for the first time, something which could see more strengths from him as he looks a very good fit for it.

JUST HISS
7/2

Betfred

Just Hiss looks for a double

Trainer Tim Easterby saw the best of JUST HISS last time out as he got a win a couple of weeks ago over course and distance.

He had to stick in there though, as his win happened by a neck over Hesslewood, with Hortzadar behind.

Just Hiss is an 11/2 option to get it done again* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 18:25 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).

He has gone up 3lb in the rating for that, but is still off a very workable mark, so nothing to be concerned about there.

It’s going to be interesting to see him square up against Hesslewood and Hortzadar again.

Hortzadar to get into the frame

HORTZADAR was third over course and distance on his last effort a couple of weeks ago. With the going expected to be a little more on the slower side, that is something that will play to his strength.

He was only one and three-quarter lengths back of Juss Hiss in that recent handicap duel.

From 7/2 second favourite, has to be kept on the shortlist to turn the tables* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 18:25 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).

Hesslewood another serious contender

We next look at HESSLEWOOD who split Just Hiss and Hortzadar over course and distance recently. He is getting the cheek pieces on for the first time in this one.

Can he find that little bit more to get the better of some tough, fairly evenly matched rivals?

He has been in good form since his return to action and can get in the frame as an 11/2 option* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 18:25 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).

More suitable conditions for Crownthorpe

We are next looking at a longer-priced option in CROWNTHORPE who has a 3lb claimer for this one. He is a former course and distance winner. On his last run, he was second from last at Doncaster.

The conditions didn’t get the best out of Crownthorpe there at all and it was his reappearance as well.

So there could be more to come from him as he slows things down in coming back up in trip and he is a 7/1 option* (betting odds taken from Betfred at 18:25 GMT on Sunday, 30th August 2020).

Rest of the Runners

DALGARNO finished right at the back of the pack on his last trip, which was 85 days ago. Takes a drop in trip, but this looks like a big ask.

ROUSAYAN was fifth last time out in a Beverley Handicap and looked a little off form. He hasn’t won now in a dozen runs and it looks like nothing more than place claim hopes.

AL ERAYG has seen his form fall away. He was full of promise scoring on his reappearance this season, but has found the going tough since then.

AL MUKHTAR STAR was well out of the picture on his last run and just faded in a Meydan listed race. That was back in March. He is with a new yard here with blinkers for the first time.

TUKHOOM scored four races ago at York in July. He wasn’t in bad shape with an 8th of 15 at Sandown 9 days ago, but he didn’t get a clean run there.

Predictions & Tips for Ripon Rowels Handicap Racing Odds

This is a super competitive race with some familiar faces lining up against each other.

We have to look at the recent course and distance effort that Hortzadar, Hesslewood and Just Hiss were all involved in.

It was a narrow success there for JUST HISS and we are going to side with him again, just as conditions could suit him the best back at the track.

The other two have every chance of getting into the frame and the unexposed DANYAH can’t be counted out either.
