Albania News and Form – Can the Albanians claim a fifth win in Group H?

Albania have had a pretty decent qualifying campaign, although they never really troubled the top two. The Eagles have won four, drawn one and lost four of their nine qualifiers, scoring 16 and conceding 12.

Edoardo Reja’s men had a disappointing result on Thursday night, though, drawing 2-2 at home with minnows Andorra. Despite scoring early, the Andorrans turned things around to lead 2-1 in Elbasan – Rey Manaj equalised ten minutes into the second period to earn Albania a point.

Albania have certainly played their part in Group H. Back in September, the Eagles stunned Iceland with a 4-2 victory at the Elbasan Arena. They also did the double over Moldova. Can Albania cause an even bigger upset with victory over France on Sunday?

France News and Form – French to get the victory and win the group?

France just about did enough to book their place in the Euro 2020 finals with a narrow victory over Moldova on Thursday. The French were given a scare when the minnows took the lead after just nine minutes at the Stade de France. After Raphael Varane had levelled things up, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winners needed a late Olivier Giroud penalty to eventually see off the battling Moldovans.

The performance on Thursday night kind of sums up France’s qualifying campaign. Deschamps’ side are just one win away from winning the group, but they have not had it all their own way. Turkey have been superb, while Iceland also flirted with the top two at times. In the end, seven wins proved to be enough for qualification.

France will now want to end their qualifying campaign with a routine win over Albania on Sunday. Les Bleus head to Tirana as the 1/3 favourites.

Albania vs France Predictions

France win: The world champions made sure of Euro 2020 qualification with a hard-fought win over Moldova at the Stade de France on Thursday. With Turkey drawing at home with Iceland, Les Bleus moved two points clear at the top of the table. Therefore, three points in Albania on Sunday will guarantee a first-place finish for the French.

Turkey are the only team to have won on Albanian soil during this qualifying campaign, but France should be too strong for their hosts on Sunday. Have a punt on the away team to win to nil at evens.

Olivier Giroud may not get much of a look in at Chelsea these days, but the former Arsenal ace has been France’s main man during qualifying. Giroud’s winner on Thursday took his tally to six in Group C. The striker is available at 6/5 to score anytime this weekend.
