Algeria comfortably came through their group stage challenge. It started with a 2-0 win for them over Kenya. Following that was a 1-0 win over Senegal in their toughest group stage game, before rounding off with a comfortable win over Tanzania. In those three matches Algeria produced six unanswered goals, so are moving along well. Adam Ounas is their top scorer from the first stage with two goals. Guinea had little from behind them heading into the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. That has pretty much followed in the tournament. They took a draw in their opening game against Madagascar, and then narrowly lost out to Nigeria. Guinea then rounded off with a 2-0 win over Burundi which gave them a good enough tally to get through to the next stage of the competition. The victory over Burundi snapped a long eight-match winless streak of form that they had been on (D4 L4).
Guinea have scored in three of their last four games now, so that is some kind of positive that they can take with them into this fixture. Their clean sheet in their success over Burundi is their only one in their last six. Guinea failed to qualify for the 2017 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations but they have been to the quarterfinals in four of their last five appearances in the tournament.
