The Gunners picked up an opening success over Bayern Munich in Los Angeles to start the International Champions Cup. Edward Nketiah netted the winner two minutes from time for Arsenal in that game. They then faced Fiorentina and English striker Nketiah was once again the hero of the day. He got himself a brace in a 3-0 success for the Gunners. So that’s all been positive for the young striker. Arsenal fans are still waiting for some action in the summer transfer market. That’s more likely to happen when they get back from this. This will be their last game in the International Champions Cup this summer. Arsenal will probably be stronger in the starting eleven for Real Madrid than they were against Fiorentina. This is the second game of Real Madrid’s International Champions Cup campaign. They lost 3-1 against Bayern Munich in their opening fixture. Eden Hazard got his first action in Real Madrid shirt, the only new face from last season to make the starting eleven against the German powerhouses. Real Madrid were already 3-0 down before summer signing Rodrygo got their consolation on the board. The Brazilian arrived in the summer from Santos.
Real Madrid’s game against Bayern was in Houston, while this one is happening in Landover, Maryland. It has been a big summer of new acquisitions from the Spaniards with striker Luka Jovic also adding to their new attacking corp. So they will likely look very different from what they did at the end of last season. Other big-money arrivals have been Ferland Mendy from Lyon and Eder Militao from Porto, both defenders.
