Barnsley News and Form – Can the Tykes pick up a rare win?

Daniel Stendel departed the club after a humiliating loss to Preston North End before the international break. The Tykes were woeful at Deepdale, crashing to a heavy 5-1 defeat.

Barnsley have not won a game since beating Fulham 1-0 at Oakwell on the opening weekend of the Championship season. Since then, the Yorkshire club have picked up just three points from their last ten, drawing three and losing seven.

Barnsley, who finished runners-up in EFL League One last term, find themselves in 23rd place in the table, a point above bottom club Stoke City and two points adrift of safety.

Stendel was a popular man among the supporters, but Barnsley have been on an alarming downward spiral since shocking Fulham on opening day. Can they pick up a priceless three points at Oakwell on Saturday?

Swansea City News and Form – Will the Swans strike back with a big three points on the road?

Steve Cooper’s Swansea City went into the first international break of the season at the top of the pile after making an unbeaten start. Since then, however, the Swans have picked up just one league win in five, drawing two and losing two of the other four.

Last time out, the Welsh club fell to a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Stoke, who are bottom of the Championship. The Swans took the lead in the first minute thanks to Andre Ayew’s strike, but goals from Sam Clucas and Scott Hogan shocked the Swans. Despite that reverse, Swansea are still in a great position in the table, sitting in fourth place on 21 points.

Having lost their last outing to the bottom side, Swansea will be hoping to hit back with three points against another of the league’s struggling sides on Saturday. Cooper’s men make the trip to Yorkshire as the 10/11 favourites to return to South Wales with all three points.

Barnsley v Swansea City Predictions

Swansea City win: Life after Stendel could take some getting used to at Oakwell. The German did a fine job during his time in South Yorkshire, which sadly ended in disappointing fashion.

Swansea will be eager to return to winning ways after losing to the bottom club at the Liberty before the international break. The away side will fancy their chances, and the bookies have the Swansea win priced at 17/20.

Although I’m backing the Swans to come out on top, I also fancy the hosts to score on their own patch. With that in mind, put some money on Swansea to win and both teams to score at 5/2.
