Belarus News and Form

Belarus actually had a strong Nations League campaign, so this failure to get up and running at the start of their Euro 2020 qualification campaign has to be a bit disappointing for them. Belarus won their Nations League group, topping Luxembourg, Moldova and San Marino. Belarus won four of those six games, drawing the other two. They also scored 10 unanswered goals in those Nations League fixtures. So that was good positive momentum behind them, but then in games against tougher opposition in their qualification group, it has all fallen apart for them.

Germany to win by a 2 goal margin
3/1

Betfair

That’s two defeats in two qualifying games so far from Belarus. The first was a 4-0 defeat against the Netherlands, and then they went down 2-1 against Northern Ireland. So qualification from this group even at this very early stage looks a very long way off for Belarus. Not that they were ever expected to be in the picture anyway. But the thing for Belarus is that they do have the safety net because of their good Nations League campaign. They are at least guaranteed place in the Euro 2020 playoffs (via their Nations League group win) if they cannot muscle their way into the top two in this qualification group.

Key-Facts – Belarus v Germany

  • Belarus have lost their opening two Euro 2020 qualifiers
  • Germany are unbeaten in four games
  • Germany have scored at least two goals in three of their last four games

Germany News and Form

Germany really came out strongly at the start of their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. They paid a visit to the Netherlands and produced a 3-2 win. That was just what they needed as well after failing in the group stage of last summer’s World Cup, and then finding themselves relegated from the Nations League top tier. In their Nations League campaign Germany finished bottom behind the Netherlands and France, failing to pick up a win in any of their four games. Germany finished that Nations League group with a D2 L2 record. But they have shaken that off and look to be back on their feet.

The win over the Netherlands at the start of Euro 2020 qualification will have done them the power of good. It leaves them trailing group leaders Northern Ireland by three points going into the next round of action. But now Germany find themselves level on points with the Netherlands who have played a game more than they have. Of their last four games, Germany have remained unbeaten, winning two of those. Their defence still doesn’t look quite as strong as it needs to be, with only one clean sheet earned from their last seven played. But the goals have started coming a bit more freely from them recently, Die Mannschaft having scored at least two goals in three of their last four games.

Belarus v Germany Predictions

Germany to win: really on paper, this should be a lopsided affair and it’s hard to see anything other than a Germany victory happening. The Germans have been scoring much more freely recently and they should do a good number on Belarus. Germany to win to nil.
