Linfield v The New Saints: Daily Acca Football Tips

Northern Ireland side Linfield have to try and rally themselves back at home on Wednesday evening.

They let the first leg of this tie against Welsh side The New Saints slip.

It was a 1-0 defeat for Linfield, which doesn’t totally put them out of the picture.

In last season’s Champions League qualifiers, they lost in the first round 5-2 on aggregate to Zalgiris.

They then slipped from the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Linfield posted a W1 L2 record at home last season in Europe.

Welsh Premier side The New Saints only narrowly lost out on a shot at the Europa Conference League group stage last season.

In six qualifiers they posted a W4 D1 L1 record, scoring at least three goals in half of those matches.

With an advantage already on the board they look more likely to kick on and win the night and the tie.

This is one of the more competitive ties from the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

The tie is nicely balanced at 0-0 from the first leg and it really could swing either way.

Shakhtyor have posted a W4 L2 record on home turf this season in their domestic league.

Each of the league wins that they took were with a clean sheet.

Last season Shakhtyor lost all four matches played in Europe, getting on the scoreboard in only one of those.

Maribor slipped out of the Europa Conference League qualifiers last season with a W2 L2 record from four European fixtures.

The Slovenian side will probably be frustrated at not having made a breakthrough in the first leg.

But there is still a decent chance for them here.

This is another of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers that are nicely balanced.

The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw so there is everything to play for.

Georgian side Dinamo Batumi did reach the Third Round of Europa Conference League qualification last season.

They did lose two of their three home fixtures, however.

We would expect the visiting Slovan Bratislava to come in a little bit stronger.

They made it to the Second Round of Champions League qualifying last season, before falling into the Europa League qualifiers.

They go through one round there before losing to Olympiakos.

That put them in the Europa Conference League group stage in which they posted a W2 D2 L2 record.

The visitors just look as if they carry the bigger threat of the two.
