Blackburn Rovers News and Form – Three wins in a row for Rovers?

Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn started their season with a disappointing 2-1 home loss to newly promoted Charlton Athletic. Rovers were then beaten 2-0 by Fulham at Craven Cottage.

However, Blackburn have bounced back with three successive league and cup wins since then, starting with a 3-2 victory over EFL League Two side Oldham Athletic in the League Cup. Boro followed that up with back-to-back 1-0 league wins over Middlesbrough and Hull City.

At the KCOM Stadium in midweek, the Blue and Whites edged a tight game against Hull. Derrick Williams was the unlikely hero, as the defender netted after 62 minutes to win the points for Rovers.

Blackburn were pretty solid on their own patch last season, winning ten, drawing seven and losing six. Away from home, Rovers picked up 23 points. Could the Lancashire club be dark horses in the promotion race this term?

After winning their last two in the Championship, Blackburn would love to make it nine points out of nine with victory over Cardiff on Saturday.

Cardiff City News and Form – Can the Bluebirds avoid a third successive away defeat?

It’s been a testing start to the season for Cardiff City following relegation from the Premier League. The Welsh side have taken six points from their opening four matches, with both wins coming at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff were involved in a scrappy game with Huddersfield Town on Wednesday. However, Neil Warnock’s men dominated, racking up 24 shots on the Terriers’ goals. Substitute Junior Hoilett’s deflected shot with just two minutes left proved to be the difference.

City have struggled on the road this season, losing both of their opening two Championship fixtures away from home. On the opening weekend of the season, despite taking the lead, Cardiff crashed to a 3-2 defeat to Paul Cook’s Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

Then last weekend, the club from South Wales were shocked at the Madejski Stadium, losing 3-0 to a rampant Reading side. Meanwhile, they picked up just four away victories on their way to relegation from the top flight last season.

Warnock’s men will want to address their away form sooner rather than later. With tough visits to Derby County, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City on the horizon, the Bluebirds could certainly do with a positive result at Ewood Park.

Despite their sluggish start, Cardiff are still one of the favourites for promotion. At the time of writing, Warnock’s team are priced at just 9/2 to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers v Cardiff City Predictions

Draw: After back-to-back away defeats, Cardiff will be hoping to stop the rot away from home on Saturday. However, with Blackburn in fine fettle after a poor start, that could be a tough assignment for Warnock’s Bluebirds. Blackburn normally score in front of their home fans, netting in each of their last six league and cup matches at Ewood Park. Therefore, have a punt on the draw and both teams to score at 7/2.

Joe Ralls has been influential in the Cardiff team under Warnock. The no-nonsense midfielder has made an excellent start to his season, netting two goals already. The 25-year-old will be keen to add to this season’s goal tally at the weekend. You can get Ralls at the very generous price of 11/2 to score anytime at Ewood Park.
