Brentford News and Form – Another home win for the relentless Bees?

Thomas Frank’s Brentford have flown up the Championship table in recent months. After a sluggish start, the Bees have shot themselves up to third place, three points clear of seventh place.

Brentford have been exceptional at home of late, winning six in a row in all competitions. In fact, since losing at home to Birmingham City on the opening weekend of the season, Huddersfield Town are the only team to have left Griffin Park with all three points. After back-to-back draws, Brentford have won seven of eight league and cup home matches.

Brentford certainly have momentum, and they will be hoping to keep joint leaders Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion honest at the top. At the time of writing, Frank’s boys are nine points adrift. Victory on Saturday will put them six points behind before the others play later on.

Key-Facts – Brentford vs Queen Park Rangers

  • The Bees have taken 15 points from their last five home league games
  • QPR have lost four of their past six on their travels
  • Brentford are third ahead of this round of fixtures, eight points above the Hoops

Queens Park Rangers News and Form – Can QPR continue their superb start to the year?

Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers have made a stunning start to the new decade. On New Year’s Day, Rangers caused a big upset when they walloped Cardiff City 6-1 at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. They then thumped another Welsh club in the Emirates FA Cup, this time beating Swansea City 5-1 in the capital.

QPR have been pretty decent on the road this term, picking up victories at Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall, Hull City and Birmingham. However, they have won just one of their last six away from home, losing four times along the way.

QPR will want to build on those impressive back-to-back wins over Cardiff and Swansea but getting anything at fortress Griffin Park will be a tough task for Warburton’s troops. The Hoops are priced at 9/2 to cause an upset against their rivals.

Brentford vs Queen Park Rangers Predictions

Brentford win: Frank’s Bees were excellent at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium back in October, fully deserving their comfortable win. They have gone from strength to strength since then, moving from the bottom half all the way up to third. In-form Brentford should ease past their rivals at the weekend, so I’m backing the hosts to win both halves at 10/3.

Ollie Watkins, who has been converted into a striker by Frank, has had a sensational season so far. The 24-year-old has netted an impressive 17 Championship goals, with two of those coming at QPR. Only Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored more (18) up until now. Watkins is available at 10/3 to open the scoring in this one.
