Celtic v Rangers Betting Tips – Scottish Premiership 29th April 12.00pm

Celtic and Rangers go head to head in an Old Firm derby on the weekend which could have title consequences. Celtic will get their hands on the league title if they take the win over their old foes in front of their home support. Rangers were beaten heavily by Celtic in their recent Scottish FA Cup semi-final. Can they delay Celtic getting the title for a little longer?

Celtic News and Form

Celtic missed the chance to win the league last weekend as they were beaten by Hibs. But they now get a chance to complete the job in the Old Firm derby. Back in 1999 was the last time that these two rivals came together with the title at stake. On that occasion, Rangers came out on top to get the league title but it was a game which was marred by crowd trouble at Celtic Park. If Aberdeen don’t beat Hearts on Friday Celtic would only need a draw out of this, but they are likely to go out and want to win the title in what for them would be a nice way to do it. This is Celtic’s  second game since the league split, the first being a surprise loss at Hibs last weekend. That ended an unbeaten streak of eight games that they were on (W6 D2).

During that sequence, Celtic picked up six clean sheets and Celtic to win to nil at bet365 is at 6/4 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). In six of their last nine games Celtic have scored at least two goals and during that run, there was their 4-0 win over Rangers in the FA Cup semi-final back on April 15th. It is reasonable enough to expect this game to go over 2.5 goals and Celtic are likely going to come out pretty strongly to get the job done. Celtic have gone unbeaten in their last fourteen games at Celtic Park in all competitions (W11 D3) and have taken a clean sheet in each of their last six there. It is going to be a big ask for Rangers to get revenge on them.

Rangers News and Form

This will be the fifth meeting between the two this season and from those other games this season, Celtic are W3 D1 against their Glasgow rivals. The one draw in that sequence though was at Celtic Park in a Premiership fixture back in December. Celtic are unbeaten in their last thirteen games in all competitions against Rangers now. In the bet365 correct score market a Celtic 2-0 option is at 13/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). Rangers are sat second in the league but a long way back of their rivals. They took a 2-1 home win over Hearts last weekend to open their account since the split. They do have a scoring threat in Alfredo Morelos and Josh Windass but this is such a tough game.

It is a derby game made all the more difficult by the occasion. Rangers have failed to score in four of their last six games against Celtic now in all competitions. So both teams not to score at bet365 is at 4/5 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). Troublingly too the Gers have been struggling for form as well since a 2-3 home loss against Celtic on March 11th. They are W2 D1 L3 in their last six games across all competitions, two of those three defeats coming in Old Firm derby clashes. Away from home, they have done better though with a W6 D2 L1 record in their last nine away from Ibrox, the loss there being their FA Cup semi-final defeat. A win for Rangers would only delay the inevitable, but it would give them plenty of pride and joy.

Celtic v Rangers Predictions

Celtic to win: Celtic will respond to their poor performance against Hibs last weekend and deliver a win in this one. Rangers just have come up short against them this season and the visitors are going to be up against it. Celtic will want this title on home soil against their biggest rivals. Home win to nil.
