Coventry City v Blackpool Predictions & Betting Odds – 7th September 2019

Another home win for the Sky Blues

Coventry City v Blackpool Betting Tips – EFL League One, 7th September 15.00pm

High-flyers Coventry City and Blackpool go head-to-head in an EFL League One fixture at St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon. Despite plenty of off-field issues, both sides have made superb starts to their respective seasons. The pair have won three and drawn three of six, with Blackpool just ahead in the table with a better goal difference. The hosts are the slight favourites, but there’s hardly anything in it. This promises to be a cracking League One encounter in Birmingham.

Coventry City News and Form – Another win at St Andrew’s?

Coventry City may be borrowing Birmingham City’s ground to play their home matches these days, but the Sky Blues have settled into their new surroundings with real aplomb. City have played five league and cup matches at St Andrew’s so far this term, winning four and drawing one. In the league, Coventry have a 100% home record.

Mark Robins’ boys sit fourth in the League One table at the moment, winning three and drawing three of their opening six. The Sky Blues have beaten the likes of Southend United, Bristol Rovers and Gillingham, with all three victories coming with clean sheets. Away from home, Coventry have drawn with Bolton Wanderers, Portsmouth and Oxford United.

Coventry’s last two away league games have ended in 3-3 draws. Having held Pompey to a thrilling draw at Fratton Park a couple of weeks back, City battled to a 3-3 draw at Oxford last weekend. It was a frantic matchup at the Kassam Stadium, with three goals being scored in the last five minutes.

Blackpool are also in good form, but Coventry will fancy their chances of maintaining their unbeaten start at St Andrew’s this weekend.

  • Both clubs have won three and drawn three of six League One games so far

Blackpool News and Form – Can the Seasiders preserve their unbeaten league record?

Blackpool kicked off their league campaign in outstanding form, winning their opening three League One matches. The Pool beat Bristol Rovers, Southend and Oxford, scoring seven and conceding two.

Since picking up nine points from nine, though, the Tangerines have drawn their last three in the league. They were held to a 2-2 draw at Gillingham before drawing 0-0 with Rochdale at Spotland. Last weekend, Blackpool drew 1-1 with Portsmouth at Bloomfield Road, with Armand Gnanduillet’s second-half goal rescuing a point for Simon Grayson’s men.

Overall, Blackpool have played eight times this term, winning four, drawing three and losing one. The Seasiders, who finished tenth in League One last season, have not lost in the league since the final day of last season. Blackpool will fancy their chances of reaching the play-offs at the very least this term. At the time of writing, the Pool are priced at 4/1 for promotion, while you can get Coventry at 9/2.

Blackpool remain unbeaten in the third tier, but Grayson’s boys will want to return to winning ways on Saturday at St Andrew’s. Can they secure a big three points on the road this weekend?

Coventry City v Blackpool Predictions

Coventry City win: On paper, these two teams seem very evenly matched. Blackpool had won their opening three before drawing three in a row, while the Sky Blues have also picked up 12 points from a possible 18.

Even though Coventry don’t have an official home at the moment, the club have settled into their St Andrew’s surroundings in fine fettle. In fact, only City, Wycombe and Lincoln City have a 100% home record in League One up until now. This could be a close one, but I fancy Coventry to pick up a fourth home victory of the season on Saturday – back the hosts to prevail at 6/5.

Sky Blues striker Matt Godden has made a fine start to his season, netting three league and cup goals already. The 28-year-old scored in City’s recent 3-3 draw at Oxford, and he will be keen to get his name on the scoresheet again in this one. Godden is available at 9/2 to open the scoring this weekend.
