Another win at St Andrew's for City

Coventry City v Tranmere Rovers Betting Tips – EFL League One, 13th October 12.00pm

On Sunday afternoon in EFL League One, Coventry City and Tranmere Rovers meet at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s. The Sky Blues head into this one as the 8/13 favourites with the bookies. Meanwhile, Tranmere are priced at 9/2, while the draw is available at 14/5. City were beaten in the league for the first time this season last weekend, but can Mark Robins’ boys get back to winning ways on Sunday?

Coventry City News and Form – Will the Sky Blues hit back with a win?

Mark Robins’ Coventry City surprised many with their stunning start to the season. The Sky Blues, who are sharing Birmingham’s ground at the moment, kicked off their league campaign by going ten games unbeaten, winning five and drawing five.

However, they were brought back down to earth with a big bump in their last League One outing, losing 4-0 to Rotherham United at the New York Stadium. Paul Warne’s Millers ran riot on home turf, with Matt Crooks and Michael Smith scoring two each in the big victory. Coventry followed that up with a loss in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday, as City were beaten 8-7 on penalties at Forest Green Rovers.

After last weekend’s humiliating loss in Yorkshire, Robins’ side will be eager to return to winning ways this Sunday. Coventry are priced at 8/13 to beat Tranmere at St Andrew’s at the weekend.

Coventry City v Tranmere Rovers Head to Head

Tranmere did the double over Coventry in the 2013-14 League One campaign, scoring eight times along the way

When the Sky Blues last played host to the Whites, Rovers picked up a big 5-1 win

Tranmere have won three of the last four meetings

There has not been a draw in this fixture since a 1-1 stalemate way back in September 1970

Key-Facts – Coventry City v Tranmere Rovers

  • Last weekend, Coventry lost for the first time in League One this season
  • Tranmere have won just two of 11 league games this term
  • The Sky Blues are unbeaten at St Andrew’s in eight league and cup matches

Tranmere Rovers News and Form – Another tough day at the office for Mellon’s Whites?

Micky Mellon’s Tranmere Rovers, who were promoted from EFL League Two last term, have started life back in the third tier by taking just nine points from 11 fixtures. Rovers have struggled so far, winning two and losing six (three draws).

The club have picked up just one league win in eight, which is no doubt a worry. Since beating Burton Albion 2-1 at Prenton Park last month, the Whites have fallen to back-to-back defeats. Mellon’s men were thumped 4-1 by high-flying Ipswich Town at Portman Road before narrowly losing 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury Town last time out in the league. On a more positive note, they did manage to beat Aston Villa’s U21 side in the Football League Trophy on Tuesday.

Tranmere’s season has not got going so far, and Sunday’s trip to St Andrew’s will no doubt be another tough assignment for last season’s League Two play-off winners.

Coventry City v Tranmere Rovers Predictions

Coventry City win: The Sky Blues have had no problems settling into their temporary home, as Robins’ team have won five and drawn one of their opening six league fixtures at St Andrew’s.

As for Tranmere, they have yet to win away from home in League One, taking a solitary point from a possible 15 on the road. I can see Rovers crashing to another away defeat on Sunday, so put your money on the home win at 8/13. As for the correct score, check out the very tasty odds of 13/2 for a 2-0 Coventry win.
