VAR will be in attendance as well.

Man Utd the favourites in Europa League Final betting

The Red Devils are strong favourites for the win. They have had a strong, accomplished campaign.

Having fallen out of the group stage of the Champions League, Manchester United opened their Europa League account with a 4-0 aggregate win over Spanish opponents Real Sociedad.

Then United claimed a 2-1 aggregate win over AC Milan, before having to meet more Spanish opposition in the quarter-finals.

That was Granada and Manchester United swept them aside easily by a 4-0 aggregate.

In the semi-finals, their tie against Roma produced 13 goals, United coming out on top by an 8-5 aggregate.

Manchester United are 5/6 odds on in Europa League Final betting* (odds recorded at 16:44 GMT on May 23rd at Bet365)

Can Villarreal do it as underdogs in Europa League Final betting?

Spanish side Villareal had a longer Europa League campaign this season. They took part in the group stage.

The Yellow Submarine won Group I in the first round of action, before getting a 4-1 aggregate win over Salzburg in the Round of 32.

Subsequent comfortable victories over Dynamo Kyiv and Dinamo Zagreb followed for them.

In the semifinals, they had to face English opposition in the form of Arsenal. Villarreal took a 2-1 aggregate win to reach the final.

That leaves Villarreal impressively undefeated this season in Europe. Their manager is former Arsenal boss Unai Emery who is a bit of an expert in the tournament.

Emery has won the Europa League three times before as a manager.

Villarreal are a quote of 2/1 in the To Lift The Title market for Europa League Final betting this week* (odds recorded at 16:44 GMT on May 23rd at Bet365).

Manchester United v Villarreal

There have been four previous meetings between Villarreal and Manchester United, both in the UEFA Champions League.

They met in the 2005 Group Stage and both games played out to a 0-0 draw.

The exact same result cropped up when they were paired together in the 2008 group stage, both 0-0 draws.

For UEFA Europa League betting, the 0-0 correct score at 90 minutes is a quote of 8/1* (odds recorded at 16:44 GMT on May 23rd at Bet365).

Why Villarreal could win

Villarreal have plenty of good options up front. There is Gerard Morena and Paco Alcacer going well. Veteran Raul Albiol has been in the form of his life this season as well.

Then there is superb creative input from Pau Torres playing out from the back. Can any of those provide the pivotal moment to see Villarreal win their biggest ever title?

Moreno has been exceptional for them this season and in the Anytime Goalscorer market for Europa League Final betting, he is a quote of 9/5 to net* (odds recorded at 16:44 GMT on May 23rd at Bet365).

But the big impact has to be Unai Emery. He’s been here before and won it. He’s used different styles and tactics to get the trophy in hand as well.

The current form of Villarreal is W3 D1 L2 in their last six games across all competitions, which is actually better than United’s current form.

Why Manchester United could win

Manchester United have looked completely untroubled in Europe this season. It’s been great progress made by them.

In last season’s semi-final, they were eliminated by Sevilla. That seemed to hurt the club a lot as United had been so wasteful in the tie.

That could be a motivating factor for them to drive on to success on Wednesday.

The Red Devils have won the Europa League before, claiming the title in 2017 with a 2-0 win over Ajax.

A big concern for them is the fitness over centre half Harry Maguire. He has been missing from United’s end of season run-in with injury.

That has been telling as well as they have stuttered to a W2 D1 L3 record in their last six fixtures in all competitions.

But there have been times when they have looked ruthless this season in the Europa League and have Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani with five-goal hauls in this season’s campaign.

Cavani has rejuvenated the United front line since joining, and he is the 8/5 odds-on favourite in the Anytime Goalscorer market for Europa League Final betting* (odds recorded at 16:44 GMT on May 23rd at Bet365).

Europa League Final Betting Prediction

We could have a cracking match on our hands here as Villarreal are undefeated in Europe this season.

The Yellow Submarine are potentially heading towards the club’s biggest ever success. European silverware is on the line for them.

Boss Unai Emery has a magic touch in the competition and will be thriving having knocked out former club Arsenal in the semi-finals.

But Manchester United are likely to have the edge in terms of speed and physicality. Their form hasn’t been great lately and if Maguire doesn’t play that does weaken their chances a bit.

But Bruno Fernandes is a game-changer and Edison Cavani is in great shape. The Premier League side has more potential match-winners on their hands.

Key Facts – Europa League Final
