Germany News and Form – Can Germany beat Argentina?

The Germans will be facing Estonia in Euro 2020 qualifiers on October 13th, so this will serve as a warm-up for that. It’s Argentina who visits Dortmund for a great looking friendly. Germany are in decent form having won four of their last five played, the only exception a 2-4 loss against the Netherlands in Euro 2020 qualification. That loss against the Dutch is their only reverse in their last eight games. After the difficult 12 months they had from the end of 2017, they seem to be back on track.

Germany are certainly scoring well at the moment as Die Mannschaft have scored at least two goals in each of their last five games. Only once in their last eight played have they failed to net at least twice in a fixture. Germany have won just one of their last four league home games, but have scored at least two goals in five of their last six. Germany aren’t at full strength with several players like Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan and Timo Werner sidelined.

Argentina News and Form – Will Argentina triumph in Dortmund?

Argentina are not going to be at full strength for this one either. Lionel Messi is out injured. They will be taking some younger, new faces to Dortmund. Argentina are unbeaten in their last four friendly fixtures, taking three clean sheets in that sequence. But since that 6-1 drubbing by Spain back in March last year, they haven’t faced anyone of note other than Brazil (L1) and Mexico (W3).

So it has been a while since they have been tested against European opposition. Argentina have a pretty decent record in international friendly fixtures. They have suffered just one loss in their last ten such fixtures out on the road. But again, there has been a lack of high-quality opposition that they have been up against. Facing Germany is a lot different from taking on the likes of Hong Kong, El Salvador and Iraq.

Germany v Argentina Predictions

Germany to win: The home form of Germany, notably the number of goals that they score, should see Die Mannschaft collect a victory. Neither are at full strength so the goal count may be lower than hoped. Home win.
