Japan Women v Scotland Women Predictions & Betting Odds – 14th June 2019

Narrow victory for the Japanese

Japan Women v Scotland Women Betting Tips – 2019 Women’s World Cup, 14th June 14.00pm

Asako Takakura’s Japan and Shelley Kerr’s Scotland lock horns in a 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group D match on Friday afternoon. The pair kicked off the tournament with defeats, so both nations will be going all guns blazing for maximum points at Roazhon Park.

The 2011 world champions may be the favourites in Rennes, but the Scots will fancy their chances after an encouraging display against England in their opening game.

Japan Women News and Form – Takakura’s team to pick up first win?

The Japanese will be looking to reach their third World Cup final in a row. After losing to USA in the final in Canada four years ago, can they go one better in France this time around? At the time of writing, Takakura’s girls are available at the big price of 33/1 to win their second world crown.

Japan did not get off to the best of starts in their opening game, as they were held to a draw by Argentina at the Parc des Princes in Paris. It was a disappointing evening for the 2011 World Cup winners, as the Argentinians picked up their first ever World Cup point. Japan had the better openings, but neither side did enough to win it.

Japan have not been in great form, winning only one of their last seven. Meanwhile, they are without a victory in five, losing two and drawing each of their last three. Can the Japanese put things right in this one?

Takakura’s troops may not be fancied to replicate their recent World Cup success, but if they can pick up all three points in this one, Japan will fancy their chances of reaching the knockout rounds in France.

  • The Japanese have reached the last two World Cup finals, winning the competition in 2011

Scotland Women News and Form – Scots to cause Japan problems?

Scotland gave a good account of themselves in their opening match against rivals England last weekend. First-half goals from Nikita Parris and Ellen White put the Lionesses 2-0 up, but Claire Emslie pulled one back for Kerr’s ladies late on to make the last ten minutes interesting.

Defeat to England was Scotland’s first reverse in five (four wins, one draw). Kerr’s side entered the tournament full of optimism, and the solid showing against England, particularly in the second half, will give them plenty of belief.

The Scots are priced at 150/1 to win the tournament, but victory over Japan on Friday will leave them with a great chance of progressing through to last 16, as they take on Argentina in their final Group D game. Can they cause an upset in Rennes?

Japan Women v Scotland Women Predictions

Japan win: The Japanese are the odds-on favourites in this one, but I can’t see there being an awful lot between the two sides. However, I still fancy Japan to edge past the Scots in Rennes. Put some money on Takakura’s team to win by a one-goal margin at 5/2. Meanwhile, Scotland are more than capable of finding the net in this one, so have a punt on both teams to score, which is available at the decent odds of 10/11.
