Kane and Hazard dominance makes PFA Awards uncompetitive markets

Hazard and Kane dominate awards markets

Football News

Well the PFA Player of the Year nominations have been made and they may as well get on and hand out the awards already. There is a six man shortlist for both the Men’s Player’s Player of the Year shortlist and the Men’s Young Player of the Year awards and punters aren’t going to scratching their heads over whom the respective awards are going to go to.

Eden Hazard is the 1/7 favourite at online betting site Paddy Power to win the senior award, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane at 10/3 behind him. Following the duo is Manchester United keeper David De Gea who is trading out at 20/1 as third favourite. Then comes Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez at 25/1, Philippe Coutinho at 50/1 and Diego Costa at 60/1.

Chelsea have two nominees in each shortlist, but over in the Young Player of the Year market, roles between Hazard and Kane are reversed, which doesn’t make a lot of sense when you think about it. Tottenham’s star striker Kane has commanded favouritism at 1/10 with Eden Hazard at 7/1 behind him, making the market even less competitive than the senior award.

So two markets which aren’t likely to have any kind of an upset. Really the only outside, remote, long shot is David De Gea becoming the first keeper since Peter Shilton to win the senior award. It’s not going to happen.
